Trust...

Trust is a huge aspect of any type of relationship.  Without that vital piece of the puzzle, any type of relationship you find yourself in, friendship, romantic relationships, work relationships, etc., will not stand the test of time.  I have an incredibly memory so I remember way too many things about way too much crap.  If someone tells me something I expect it to be the truth and since I don’t often forget things people tell me, it often places me in rather difficult positions.  I am not one to trust easily so when that trust is breached, I am not one to forget and forgive.

A former “friend” of mine once told me “when you’re done, you’re done” and that holds true even today.  I will do everything within my power to be the best friend, confidante, lover, employee, daughter, sibling, etc. that I can possibly be.  However when I’m done, I’m done.

Growing up in North Carolina, my father and grandfather, grew tobacco… which meant getting the ground ready, setting, cutting, hanging and sorting once dried…

Now I understand that I have probably missed more than one step along the way however it has been more than 20 years (probably more like 30+) since my family raised tobacco. After all this time I can still remember all of the hard work that goes into raising tobacco.

A couple of years ago, I heard about a tobacco basket that was at this nearby consignment shop…

The picture is not of the best quality and the basket has definitely seen better days…however I know without a shadow of a doubt that each time I catch a glimpse of it, I think of my father and grandfather, whom I love and miss each and every day… so to me…the piece is absolutely perfect.

The first estate sale I ever attended…with my father…absolutely fell in love with the color and the almost pristine condition of the piece almost 60 years after the owner first purchased it for her family.

Since that first sale, I have attended several other auctions but my first sale, my first purchase is by far my favorite. More because my dad was there than anything else. He passed away about 9 months after this sale so he never got to see how much I love auctions/estate sales…probably as much as he did. I’m just grateful for this memory, the love my father had for all of his children as well as the love of antiquing he passed on to me…

I went looking for a sofa…you know one of those things that sit in your living space (Living Room, Family Room, Den, etc.).  Before the sale, I was looking at the pictures online and saw a fairly contemporary sofa that I thought would be a good fit for my house. It wouldn’t show dirt (the dog just doesn’t understand he should wipe his paws prior to jumping on the furniture)… it would somewhat match the rest of my decor… and best of all I figured I could get it for a reasonable price…

Rigby lounging on the new sofa once we got it home yesterday… and for just $100 (for an almost brand new sleeper sofa) I am ecstatic…

However, I also came home with a ton of other stuff (i.e. junk)…

This is just a small sample of what I ended up dragging home yesterday… I had so much stuff in my car yesterday that someone asked me if I was moving…I
