I went looking for a sofa…you know one of those things that sit in your living space (Living Room, Family Room, Den, etc.).  Before the sale, I was looking at the pictures online and saw a fairly contemporary sofa that I thought would be a good fit for my house. It wouldn’t show dirt (the dog just doesn’t understand he should wipe his paws prior to jumping on the furniture)… it would somewhat match the rest of my decor… and best of all I figured I could get it for a reasonable price…

Rigby lounging on the new sofa once we got it home yesterday… and for just $100 (for an almost brand new sleeper sofa) I am ecstatic…

However, I also came home with a ton of other stuff (i.e. junk)…

This is just a small sample of what I ended up dragging home yesterday… I had so much stuff in my car yesterday that someone asked me if I was moving…I

The Girl That…

01.  You hear cows mooing, not cars honking.

02.  You hear birds chirping, not people screaming.

03.  You smell chicken or cow dung, not exhaust from belching trucks.

04.  You have neighbors or even strangers stopping to help, not people lost in their own world.

05.  You have animals running free with no leash law in force, not pooper scooper stations every few blocks.

This is what I have woken up to the last two mornings… Tuesday @ 4:30 and today (Wednesday) @ 3:30.

Initially I thought it was either the dog brushing up against me as he slept… then the thought crossed my mind that it might be the strings on my quilt…

Unfortunately it was neither…

The Girl That…

My dog recently caught an opossum and was shaking his head growling as he hung on to the opossum for dear life. To begin with I had no clue what he had, only that he had caught something fairly large in size and he was intent on holding on to it.

It was rather late when this occurred and of course I couldn’t see exactly what it was. I ordered Rigby (the dog) to drop it and I quickly went over to take a picture with my cell phone. I was quite shocked to see the opossum laying there presumably dead.

I hurried off inside with the intention of disposing of the body the following morning. Rigby like most dogs I’m sure loves to roll around on dead animals and then proudly return to the house (and on my bed) reeking of dead animal.

The following morning to my great surprise the opossum was gone. When I mentioned it my mother she was like “for a country girl you don’t know much do you? Haven’t you ever heard the term “playing opossum”?”
